Committee members deliberated on the Draft Resolution (Reg.No.1421). They pointed out that the Government has failed to execute the Resolution adopted by the National Security and Defence Council in July 2007, concerning the setting up of an Agency for the Development of the Defence Industry Complex (DIC). The People´s Deputies criticized the absence, in the Cabinet of Ministers, of a position of a Special Vice Prime Minister in charge of the said matters. The speakers also noted that the adopted Law, ‘On State Budget 2008´, includes various aspects which are not in line with the prospects of setting up a DIC technological framework and technical re-equipment of the Army.
The Committee, following these discussions, resolved to arrange on-site meetings in May in Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Vinnytsia, where the Committee members intend to examine and study the current progress of the following projects: multipurpose Missile Complex, Corvette, the Air fleet modernization, including MiG-29 Fighter, Su-25 Hedge-hopper, and Mi-24 Combat Helicopter.
‘This will be the Committee´s preparatory work preceding discussion of the development of the National Defence Industry complex in May, together with the Governmental and Presidential structures´, stated Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Committee Chairman.
